Shane Dunne
General Manager – Aligned Leisure & Education
Shane has over 17 years’ experience leading teams in sport and leisure. As General Manager, Shane is responsible for the diversification of the club’s business interests which has included the establishment of Aligned Leisure and the club’s education division. Prior to this he supported the club’s crowd, membership and retail strategies and has also worked as a venue manager at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Damien Villarosa
Head of Education & Training
Damien has a strong education background, particularly in elite sport. He is passionate in creating opportunities for young people by putting their best interests at the forefront. Damien is innovative with his ideas and is continually looking at ways to improve Richmond Football Club and Richmond Institute.

Airlie Tudhope
Student Experience Manager
Airlie manages the overall student experience. This includes developing and enhancing school and industry partnerships, acquisition of new students, the engagement and wellbeing of current students, and career and future pathway success for students beyond our program. Airlie is passionate about supporting young people, has an extensive background in education and is a leading Physical Education teacher. She regularly consults with schools and both education and sporting organisations.

David Bastian
Education & Training Manager
David oversees the course content and assists with the delivery of the Leadership and Management units. David’s career has transitioned from logistics management to the education sector. David has delivered a range of business/management courses and his experiences provide an insight into the management of the Richmond Football Club.

Michael Chiovitti
Exercise Science Education Manager
Michael has an extensive history in athletic development, sport science and tertiary education. Having started his career as a strength & conditioning coach with Richmond (VFL) 10 years ago, he has since worked with the likes of ARU, WNBL, NPL and Olympic level athletes whilst consulting to various businesses within high performance sport.

Jessica Harris
Regional Education Program Manager
Jessica is a highly regarded educator with extensive teaching experience in a range of settings. She is passionate about developing the ‘whole’ student through meaningful experiences suited to individual interests. Jessica has implemented innovative and engaging education programs around Australia, leading with breakthrough projects and ideas. Jessica founded and run the Regional HOPE Network, which facilitatesProfessional learning for teachers in regional areas. She also published a textbook for VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies. Jessica oversees the Regional Education program, and aims to ignite the passion and drive of students within the Richmond Institute and beyond.

Will Kirk
Student Engagement Coordinator
Will is responsible for student engagement, wellbeing and support – making sure you can give the RISL course your best everyday no matter what life throws at you. He is a Social Worker with tons of experience working with young people and families, supporting them to overcome challenges and navigate through all kinds of situations to reach their full amazing potential. He loves sport and being happy, active, healthy and fit.

Victoria Ramsdale
Careers & Pathways Coordinator
Tori’s vast range of industry experience put’s her in great steed to help guide students on their professional journey. After studying Human Movement & Sports Management, Tori has fulfilled roles at two AFL Clubs and the Australian Open. Her most recent role in the Richmond Football Club’s Events & Program Implementation team has equipped her skillset to develop events in their entirety, both on field and at a corporate level. Tori brings a positive and hardworking attitude to her role, aspiring to create an excellent student experience.

Nick Smith
Program Facilitator & Teacher
With over 20 years of teaching and sports coaching experience behind him, Nick applies that to his role as Program Educator. Having played and coached footy at VFL level Nick is excited to work in the RISL environment.  A trained PE teacher, former school Principal and Level 2 AFL coach, Nick loves to share his passion for all things leadership and sport with our students.

Matthew Carlon
Strength & Conditioning Coordinator
With a background in Science, Psychology and elite level training, Matt brings a wealth of experience to the strength and conditioning department. He is highlighted by his associations with VFL & TAC Cup, Netball Victoria, Richmond’s Next GEN Academy, and corporate clientele. Matt is a qualified trainer, who uses his experiences to effectively train students.

Michelle Devereux
Health & Fitness Education Coordinator

Michelle has been a passionate contributor to the Fitness industry for the last 22 years in roles that include trainer, group fitness instructor, business owner, manager and presenter for Filex. In the last eighty ears Michelle has worked as a Trainer and Assessor in Fitness,Sports Development, Sport Management and Massage sharing her knowledge and skills to a diverse range of learners. Michelle’s interests include weight training, Taekwondo, Fitness training for events such as Tough Mudder andSpartan and endurance events such as Triathlons. Michelle has also worked as a Team Manager and coach for the La Trobe University Taekwondo team in the intervarsity games and loves to see athletes realise their potential with in their sport.

Amelia Todhunter
Student Engagement Consultant
Amelia is a qualified wellbeing counsellor with 2 years’ experience in a Melbourne high school. She is also an experienced professional athlete and has competed in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) for the past 11 years. In the 2018/19 season Amelia was named the captain of the Dandenong Jayco Rangers. In 2017 Amelia was one of four players chosen to represent Australia for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Tournament in France. Amelia enjoys working collaboratively with young people and has a passion for combining her experience as a professional athlete with educational studies.


Zayne Allen
Student Mentor (Teaching and Assessment)
Zayne was a student at the Richmond Institute in 2017. During this time Zayne worked and assisted with the Richmond Football Club, Oakleigh Chargers, Netball Victoria and AFL Diversity. He became a Student Mentor at RISL in 2018. Zayne’s focus as a mentor will be to assist students with their assessments.

Deanna Berry
Student Mentor (Pathways)
As a Student Mentor, Deanna’s aspires to engage with the students and build positive relationships both in and out of the classroom. You will see De working closely with our Careers and Pathways Coordinator to ensure all students complete their industry placement requirements, and to help them work towards their desired pathway at the completion of the course. De has a passion for helping others and making people be the best they can be. We are lucky to have De in our team, as she has expert knowledge of the elite sporting industry as an AFLW player since the league inaugurated in 2017, meeting many inspirational people and leaders along the way.

Shayla Clarke
Student Mentor (Acquisition)
Shayla was a previous student at the Richmond Institute in 2018. Shayla completed industry hours in many areas including volunteering at the Richmond Football Club, Phoenix Management Group, Next Gen Sports Academy and Aligned Leisure. Shayla is nearing the completion of her Business Degree and will be one of this year’s Student Mentors. Shayla has completed a Business Degree and is currently working at the Richmond Football Club as our Marketing and FanEngagement Officer. Shayla is also a Student Mentor at RISL and focuses on enhancing school and industry partnerships and the acquisition of new students.

Jamie Wills
Student Mentor (Acquisition & Engagement)
Jamie is a previous student of the Richmond Institute in 2018. Jamie has volunteered in many areas of the sporting industry such as the Richmond Football Club, Next Generation Sports Academy and Aligned Leisure. Jamie is currently working at the Cardinia Aligned Leisure facility as a Customer Experience Officer. She will be one of your Student Mentors for 2019.


Leonard Mammoliti
Student Mentor (Engagement)
Leonard was a previous student at the Richmond Institute in 2018. He has a rich and extensive background within the sports and events industry with organisations such as Richmond Football Club, Melbourne United Basketball, Melbourne Aces Baseball, Event Workforce Group, Performance by Design etc. Leonard has a passion for connecting and building positive professional relationships with people and will be a key part of the engagement and wellbeing of the Richmond Institute students.


Georgina Eddy
Student Mentor (Engagement)
Georgina was born and raised in Ballarat, where she graduated from high school in 2016. She completed her dual diploma of Sports Development & Leadership and Management through RISL in 2018, and is returning as a Student Mentor in 2019. Georgina’s main aim as a student mentor is to be someone who everybody is comfortable to approach for any discussions, and wants to ensure that everybody gets as much out of the course as possible.


Tim Madden
Strength & Conditioning Consultant Albury-Wodonga
Tim brings a unique skill set having worked as a Sports Podiatrist for 8 years to add to his experience as a strength & conditioning coach. Tim continues to provide training programs for local development athletes as well as several elite clients. Tim’s consulting business also provides support to academy & school programs to support student athletes in managing their training and injury services. Tim will focus on delivering the practical component of the course and looks forward to working alongside and learning from the students in this year’s program.


Mikaela Trethowan
Student Mentor Albury-Wodonga
Mikaela has completed her Sports Development Diploma and Certificate 4 in Fitness. Mikaela completed industry hours in many areas including Murray Bushrangers, Netball Victoria, Border Sports and Fitness centre and F45 Wangaratta. Mikaela will be a Student Mentor at RISL in 2019 and is currently her Bachelor of Exercise/ Sport Science at Charles Sturt University. Mikaela’s focus as a mentor is to engage with the students and build positive relationships that enables them to feel comfortable and welcomed.
